April 2026

This ended up being a hit by pitch in the thigh

C took this photo, the black & white filter feels appropriate for the Diamond

I got to go to five games this April and my 97th ballpark, Carmax Park, has entered the tracker. That’s college, collegiate summer and any professional level, including spring training. I loved seeing the Yankees with my sister, although the weather was borderline unbearable and the game was sloppy. seeing Giancarlo Stanton steal his first base in years and steal a run in that way was joyful though. I hadn’t seem him play since I was working in the Southern League when he wasn’t one of the slowest men in the league. Two Squirrels games in the new ballpark were nice. It’s gorgeous, although I wish we had a real berm instead of the strange terraces they went with. It feels much less safe for kids running around than, for example, Nashville’s excellent berm in a similarly beautiful Milb setting. I also got to see VCU lose a close one in the Diamond and another less close one across town at Malcolm Pitt. Here’s hoping that both VCU and the Spiders can make the A10 tournament and one of them takes down the St. Joseph’s juggernaut.
