Rate Field

It was Chicago Sky city connect night at Rate Field. The Chicago White Sox were facing the Kansas City Royals. We enjoyed walking the ballpark before the game and finding small hidden gems like the Bell of Shame. We also enjoyed looking at the statues in the outfield and other pieces of White Sox history inside and outside the ballpark. We tried the new Birthday Cake shake which was delicious but overpriced. Also tried the Comiskey burger which tasted much better than it looks. There were plenty of stores throughout the park with a great variety of hats, shirts, and other souvenirs. The White Sox got on the board first when Colson Montgomery hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd. It was his fourth game in a row with a home run! Unfortunately, that was the only time we would see fireworks shot from the iconic scoreboard that night. No other runs were made by either team until the 6th inning but we did get our first foul ball during the top of the 5th! It was hit by Kansas City’s Nick Lofton. In the bottom of the 6th the White Sox scored 3 more runs from a couple singles and a wild pitch that allowed all runners to advance. The Royals didn’t stay quiet and scored 2 runs in the top of the eighth and 3 more in the top of the ninth to take the lead. The White Sox were not able answer back and fell to the Royals 5-4. The traffic after the game was surprisingly light and leaving Chicago took no time at all.
