A Cold Night in the Greenwood District

Northwest Arkansas Naturals v Tulsa Drillers

Despite the temperature plummeting to the low 40s and a wind chill that was in the mid 30s due to strong north winds and the threat of of rain, the Drillers were able to get their 2nd game in of the opening series. We were blessed when Chris Storm showed up, driving over from Stillwater to watch the game and visit; his wife was the unlucky one, I guess, since her original flight home was cancelled so she booked a flight to Tulsa which was the “perfect excuse” for Chris to head to OneOK Field while he waited for his bride to. return to “Native America”. He and I also played catch after the game, the second time we were able to do so this year.
Tulsa lost, 9-5, 2 homers from John Rhodes, their first baseman.
In addition to the weather and getting to share the game with Chris, this game will forever be remembered as the night I saw Jac Caglianone wallop a ball 464 feet, completely out of the stadium and into Elgin Avenue, one of the main thoroughfares of downtown Tulsa and the Greenwood District.
