Completed: Attend The World Baseball Classic

Over the weekend Hannah and I along with our close friends Ben and Aly got to watch Team USA take on Great Britain in the WBC hosted at Daikin Park.

It was awesome seeing this international event hosted in my home ballpark. The WBC lineups are like dream allstar teams featuring AL and NL stars on the same roster. Skubal gave up a leadoff homer then was excellent from then on. Trayce Thompson playing for GB, made a stellar home run robbery in right field. He went crashing into the wall to take one away from Will Smith. Highpoint of the game was a mammoth homer from Kyle Schwarber to take the lead in the 5th which sent the crowd into a frenzy. Gunnar Henderson was also impressive going 4 for 5 at the plate. Personally I enjoyed seeing the former long time Astro Alex Bregman back in Houston playing for the home team.

There was something amazing about watching team USA defeat Great Britain on the 250th anniversary of our independence. Seeing Americans of all different races, backgrounds and creeds cheer on Team USA together gave a great sense of patriotism and show the power of international sports. Love the WBC and hope it continues to grow in popularity.
